  • The “Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker” has identified India’s response to Covid-19 as one of the most stringent in the world.
  • Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva has named a group of prominent individuals to serve as her new External Advisory Group which includes former RBI governor, Raghuram Rajan and others to its new External Advisory Group. Raghuram Rajan was the RBI governor for three years and presently working as a professor at the prestigious University of Chicago.
  • Google and Apple collaborate to fight against COVID-19 through contact tracing technology. Both tech-giants have collaborated to enable the use of Bluetooth technology to help governments and health agencies reduce the spread of the Corona Virus, with user privacy and security central to the design.
  • The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, in partner with BEL (Bharat Electronics Limited) has set up India’s 1st remote health monitoring system. The system is to be used in the state of Uttarakhand to monitor COVID-19 patients.   • YES Bank has announced the extension of its strategic bancassurance relationship with the Max Life Insurance. The tie-up has been extended for 5-years in order to reaffirm their commitment to invest in building a digitally-enabled ecosystem, to offer customers a broad range of need-based products and services in order to provide a seamless experience for customers.
  • People’s Bank of China (PBOC) has raised its stake in Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) from 0.8% to 1.01%. 
  • Kerala becomes the 1st state of India to start clinical trial plasma therapy for COVID-19 treatment. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given approval to Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, to start clinical trial convalescent plasma therapy treatment.
  • The National Sports Federation of India has announced that it will host the Asian Boxing Championships for men and women in November-December this year. The host city of the competition is not yet decided.
